The new F-150 Raptor hit showroom across the United States last fall. We knew it would be a truck worthy of a gold medal. But, little did we know how awesome the cutting-edge Terrain Management System would truly be. Ford Performance set the bar higher than ever before.

Engineers developed an all-new transfer case that manages the distribution of power between the front and rear wheels. The focus is a clutched-based and on demand all wheel drive capability. It includes an all-weather mode. It also provides a mechanically locked and durable four wheel drive system. This system provides drivers with the confidence they need in severe off-road environments. When engineers combined the 10-speed transmission with the high output EcoBoost engine, they blessed Raptor with 450 horsepower. Raptor also offers 510 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s the most efficient Raptor ever on road and off.

“Raptor’s transfer case provides the best of both worlds, with the natural benefits from all-wheel drive, such as increased traction in rain and snow, as well as extreme off-road capability that comes with a mechanically locked system,” says Tony Greco, Ford F-150 Raptor program manager.

Engineers worked hard to enhance the daily driving experience of the Raptor as well. So not only is the Raptor awesome off road, it’s also awesome driving around town! Raptor’s system was performance tested having been driven through over 2,500 miles of competition testing. This competition was the 2016 Best in the Desert series.
