2021 Explorer: High-End Appeal

America’s best-selling SUV, Explorer. Has seen a number of enhancements throughout the 2021 model year. In addition to a variety of equipment group and feature adjustments, Explorer has welcomed its first-ever King Ranch series and will soon ass an all-new, dedicated four-wheel-drive series, Timberline, to the lineup.

Now there’s even more, with several new premium model announcements that further enhance the appeal and value proposition on the upper end of the Explorer scale!

Platinum Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD)

Platinum delivers all of the opulence that high-end customers demand. That said, not all Platinum customers necessarily want or need what was standard 4WD, RWD is now standard on Platinum 601A, reducing the starting MSRP, and Intelligent 4WD becomes available. Additionally, Platinum now offers the Hybrid 4WD as an available powertrain.

Exterior Accents

Making its own unique statement, the exterior highlights on Platinum include premium touches all around, such as:

  • Distinctive satin aluminum exterior details
  • Premium silver-painted front and rear skid plate elements
  • Chrome quad exhaust tips (dual outlets on Hybrid)
  • LED taillamps with amber turn signals
  • 12-inch bright machined-face wheels with Luster Nickel-painted pockets

Interior Opulence

Inside, the Platinum cabin features exclusive leather-trimmed seats with Tr0Diamond micro0perforated inserts, accent stitching and “PLATINUM” logo embroidery on the first- and second-row seats. Other Platinum highlights include leather-wrapped interior trim, including the instrument panel, center console lid, door rollovers and armrests. Additional premium touches include:

  • High gloss black on the enter stack and buttons
  • Gray Ash Swirl instrument trim
  • 3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Leather wrapped-steering wheel
  • First- and second-row black-carpeted floor mats feature Brunello stitched accents and “PLATINUM” stitched lettering

Enthusiast ST

Also new for the 2021 model year is an Enthusiast ST Equipment Group (400A). This base series ST offering performance-oriented shoppers the opportunity to get into an ST at a very attractive base MSRP!

Enthusiast ST includes all of the Ford Performance-inspired equipment, such as its sport-tuned suspension and specially tuned 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, combined with an impressive base equipment group. Equipment group 401A remains positioned for the performance-oriented driver who prefers the “all in” approach. Additional available options and packages can be added to either.

In addition to aggressive, black accents all around, there are:

  • LED headlamps and taillamps with blackout treatment
  • Gloss black sideview mirror caps with ST projection lamps
