From sophisticated all-wheel-drive to traditional 4×4 systems, Ford drive-trains and their complementing technologies contribute to a great driving experience. They give drivers confident control and enhanced performance. While there are many similarities, each system functions somewhat differently. Here’s the information you need to know about Ford’s Intelligent SUV systems.

New for 2016 is the wider availability of all-wheel drive. This now includes standard AWD on Edge Sport Models!

IntelligentIntelligent AWD is standard on Edge Sport. It’s optional on other Edge models. Intelligent AWD is similar to AWD because it’s fully automatic. It delivers the correct amount of power to the front and rear wheels. Intelligent AWD has also been made to complement the 5-passenger size of the Ford Edge. We have models available for you to see.

IntelligentIntelligent 4WD is an option on the Ford Escape. You can get it with either of the EcoBoost engines. This system is also fully automatic. It’s been specifically made to compliment the compact size of the Ford Escape. Beach Ford has a few Escapes on the lot right now. Come by today to see them all!

IntelligentIntelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System (TMS) comes standard on the Ford Explorer Sport and Platinum models. It’s optional on other Explorer models. This system is designed to automatically optimize traction. It can handle a variety of terrains. In normal mode, the system is continuously on alert. This means it will deliver 4WD capability when needed. When the system determines 4WD is not needed, it will reduce interaction. This helps to conserve fuel. It also offers drivers an easily operated control switch. This switch gives provides specific settings: Normal, Mud/Ruts, Sand and Snow/Gravel/Grass.

IntelligentControl Trac Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) is an option on the Ford Expedition and Expedition EL models. Combined with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, Control Trac transfers power to the appropriate wheel or wheels through a manually set four-position rotary switch located on the instrument panel.
