Adaptive Cruise ControlCruisn’ Through Traffic

The Ford commitment to “Go Further” is proven by the way we take existing technologies and continue to evolve them. The latest example is Adaptive Cruise Control, which now includes enhanced technology known as Stop-and-Go and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. The 2017 Fusion is the first Ford vehicle in North America to offer this enhanced feature.

Imagine Less-Stressful Commutes

Adaptive Cruise Control, now with Stop-and-got technology, is a WOW feature that customers are sure to appreciate.

Adaptive Cruise ControlAdaptive Cruise Control

This technology uses advanced radar and camera to monitor traffic ahead for slower vehicles. The system:

  • Allows drivers to preset gaps (the comfortable following distance between cars) and set cruise control speed using steering wheel controls
  • When activated, can slow the vehicle to adapt to current traffic conditions and maintain the preset distance between vehicles
  • Returns automatically to the set speed once traffic clears

NEW Stop-and-Go

Stop-and-Go takes the technology of Adaptive Cruise Control a step further. The system:

  • Continually measures the preset gap distance to the vehicle in front when it is within close range
  • Can automatically apply the brakes when the system detects the car in front has unexpectedly reduced speed
  • Can bring the vehicle to a complete stop is the driver fails to apply the brakes in time
  • Helps drivers potentially avoid or reduce the severity of a collision
  • Keeps the car at a complete stop without the driver having to press and hold the brake pedal
  • Returns the vehicle to its preset speed when the driver taps the Resume button or presses the accelerator after stopping  for more than three seconds

Adaptive Cruise ControlPrepped for the Unexpected

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection is always on and helps drivers prepare for the unexpected by monitoring the road ahead for potential collisions with a vehicle or pedestrian. Using the same sensors and camera, these features are included with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go.

New Pre-Collision Assist

Pre-Collision Assist and Pedestrian Detection work together to help reduce the severity of, and in some cases possibly prevent, frontal collisions with vehicles or pedestrians. Pre-Collision Assist:

  • Can warn the driver if it detects the possibility of a collision
  • Uses distance indication, distance alert and active braking
  • Pre-charges the brakes, then starts braking, to help slow the vehicle if the driver fails to react
  • Slows the vehicle 30mph below its current speed

NEW Pedestrian Detection

  • Using the same radar sensors and windshield-mounted camera, during daytime, Pedestrian Detection:
  • Can help the driver, when traveling at lower speeds, avoid pedestrians
  • Alerts is a pedestrian is within the driving path with a red warning light, audible warning chime and warning message in the information display
  • Pre-charges the brakes, then starts braking, to help slow the vehicle if the driver fails to react
  • Can apply the brakes automatically and reduce vehicle speed is the driver still doesn’t respond
